My final Wiki…Technology is growing every moment and to be successful as a teacher I will need to keep learning technology. I was very surprised at what types of technology are available for me to use in my own education and in aspiring to educate others. I am very excited about the information that I learned creating my Wiki. I feel that I would have had a better experience and learned more if I would have taken this class in a traditional classroom setting. It was very hard for me to keep up on assignments without going to a class. For myself a classroom experience would be more beneficial. With this experience I will make sure that I give my students enough in class instruction and examples so that a student is struggling at home completing assignments I will be able to give more help. I have really learned that I tend to procrastinate with school work unless I am away at school. I do not have a strong enough drive at home to so the amount of work an online class requires. I was ashamed of this at first but have learned with this class that for my busy life working full time and a single mom I have to schedule my time so that school work is a priority and that may mean being away from home for a few hours a week so that school work is completed without distraction. I have also really learned how much work teachers put into writing lesson plans. That as a teacher you want your students not only to learn the material but to have some fun while doing it. I believe that with technology that a lesson will always be able to be revisited and revised so that the really great lessons can keep up with the changing in technology. Also the parts of the lesson that are not working for the students or the teacher the teacher will be able to just delete it and move on.
While working on these projects I learn about the technology that is available for free but I also learned a lot about myself. I think that product that I am mot proud of is the change in attitude that I gained from completing these assignments. To have and end project that I am proud of I must make the time to do it. I cannot sit outside with my little girl and create a great lesson, I must focus on the lesson. Next time I will first not take online classes for I struggle with making the time for them, second I would put together a hard copy of lessons so that I can go back and look at them in hardcopy. I am most concerned with forgetting all the information that I have learned. I have decided to copy all the assignments to a folder so that I am able to revisit the technology used so that I will be able to do these really great tools in my teaching future. I think that my greatest asset will be classmates and other educators in the field. Have decisions about what they are doing in classrooms and always keep an open mind about the new technology that is coming out. To stay connected with students I will need to stay connected to the latest technology.
I will be teaching in a twenty-first century and there for need to have a twenty-first century classroom. I will also keep looking for free technologies that will keep students interested. I know that money will be an issue that teachers deal with, but with the free opportunities like Google docs I feel that I will be able to offer the poorest students an opportunity to use and learn from technology. In my classroom I hope to teach with excitement not like the history classrooms of my past where we read about history in a text book. My classroom will have students remembering history and experiencing real people’s stories. My students will experience history not just read about it.
